The February 13 in the living room of degrees of the Faculty of Health Sciences and organized by the Department of nursing within the activities of the "course of specialist care Hospice", brought together more than 70 health professionals in order to discuss the different organisational structures of units and equipment that serve patients who require palliative care in our autonomous community.
In the first Panel, moderated by Dr. Sanjuán Quiles, Dr. Gallud presented the general model that has been followed in our autonomous community, showing the different structures that interact at each level of care, stressing commitment to Hospital units at home and nurse managers of cases as the central axis of care for these patients. Behind him, the Professor Ruiz Miralles introduced in the context of home care, showing how the nurses, case managers carry out the evaluation, control and monitoring of complex and palliative patient. And finally the Dr. Baydal presented us the process of implementation of the comprehensive Plan for palliative care in the Department of health of Denia.
In the second table, moderated by Dr. Cabañero Martínez, Dr. Priego Valladares presented the structure of hospitals in acute palliative care units and expressed the difficulties of implementation of the same today in our context. D. Fco. Jesús Moreno, explained the structure and functioning of the HACLE (chronic and long-stay care hospitals) and Professor Morales Robles showed us the peculiarities of the Pediatric home care in Hospital units. As an example of an integral and external to our autonomous Community Center Mrs. M. Jesus de la Ossa, CUDECA (Cancer Care) assistance teams Coordinator, presented to us the development, structure and philosophy of this Foundation and its Medical Center, a leader in care for patients who require palliative care in our country.
The main conclusions of the day revolved around the need to increase the coordination of health care resources of the different levels of care, as well as increase the number of resources in acute hospitals. In addition, a firm commitment by a formation of quality addressed to professionals of the different levels of care is required.
Belonging to the Department of nursing the UA researchers are engaged in a research project, in which collaborated closely group ASV transport health assistance of the province of Alicante and the company MEDICAL SIMULATOR-innovation in education.
